DEVIL’S FOOD CAKE. CHOCOLATE CAKE

If a chocolate cake recipe lives up to its name, this is it. The Devil’s Food cake, the “devil’s food”. And it is the ideal cake to break the bikini operation. That wonderful temptation that makes you sin again and again.

Surely you remember the white cake, that cake so bright, that I mentioned that it appeared in a Tarantino movie, as an ironic-racist dessert in a time of slavery. Well, the Devil Food cake appears in a series called “Boardwalk Empire” also as a dessert for a mobster with “Devilian” attitudes, inventing a word that doesn’t exist. And it is that the American scriptwriters if they know how to spin and place the most typical of their gastronomy at the right moment.

I have sinned with this cake, but only a little bit and for once in many years I even have regrets, but nothing that has not been cured with chocolate. Simply delicious.

For the cakes

  • 240 ml very hot water
  • 65 g of Valor cocoa powder
  • 230 g of flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1 sachet of baking powder (Royal Yeast)
  • 350 g of sugar
  • 150g butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 290 ml milk

For coverage

  • 390 g icing sugar
  • 75 g of cocoa powder
  • 125g butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 150 g of cream approx.

Preparation time: 2 hours and 15 minutes

The biscuits

We have prepared two 18 cm molds with this quantity and there are two tall and juicy cakes left.

We undo the cocoa in the water, which will be very hot, and let it cool. Mix the flour, salt, bicarbonate and baking powder and reserve.

Now we need the cocoa to be cold and the oven hot to 180ºC, heat up and down. We beat the butter and sugar until they are integrated and white. We add the eggs one by one to the mixture and do not add the next until the first is integrated. We add the vanilla extract and at the end the cocoa and milk. When everything is well mixed, we add the dry ingredients and make a homogeneous dough. We divide the mixture in two and put it in the molds, which we will have prepared with baking paper and greased.
